How to Grow Leeks In Your Garden
Growing Leeks
- Plant leeks during early spring and fall. They grow well in raised beds, containers, and in-ground gardens. I grow my leeks in raised beds using Coast of Maine soil.
- Space leeks 6 inches apart in an area that gets 6 or more hours of sun daily.
- Mix compost in to your raised bed soil to add more nutrients the leeks with love.
- Make sure leeks are watered well as they do not like dry soil.
- Harvest leeks at any time once they are large enough.
- I mostly use leeks in potato leek soup, amazing if you have never tried.
- Leeks are very costly to buy at the supermarket, so the more you grow the more you save!
