Ever struggle starting seedlings just to find mice or chipmunks eating all those seeds?
I have the answer for you!
Using strawberry and blueberry containers from your recycling bin not only is free but also has many purposes.
1. Keeps out rodents
2. Keeps soil moist
3. Great drainage
I started my lettuce seeds in these containers for the fall as lettuce seeds like to rest on the top surface of the soil. Seeds on the surface are even more tempting to those pesky mice and chipmunks. This method has been fool proof so far as they cannot get into the containers to feast on the seeds or emerging seedlings! Once the seedlings are large enough to outgrow the container I will transplant into my raised beds.
