Lilies
Lilies
This year has been my greatest year yet growing lilies out in my backyard! Most of them are over 6 ft tall and the smell is just incredible! I planted most of the bulbs back in 2018 and they continue to multiply each year and are the most carefree to grow. Most of the bulbs I purchased are from the flower shows held in Boston and Philadelphia.
Some of the issues with lilies is the lily leaf beetle. This pest is very common and can do damage if not maintained. What I do mostly is spray the leaves with water on jet from your average hose as well as spraying neem oil early in the morning or late at night throughout the season. This beetle is red and lays black larvae which can bore holes in the leaves. If you continue to keep up on the removal you should have a great experience.
Some of the varieties of lilies I grow are the following:
Casablanca
Stargazer
Tiger lily
Matrix
Beverly Dreams
Big Brother
Cobra Oriental
