Squash Flowers
Squash flowers hidden deliciousness
Ever find yourself wondering what to do with the big beautiful flowers on yellow squash and zucchini plants? The Italian girl will give you the low down! My great grandmother who is 102 years old (not lying) has been stuffing and frying squash flowers for what seems like ever! All you need is some ricotta, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and oil! There are many many recipes online but when I cook I never quite follow a recipe and add a little here a little there but it is very very simple. To get the ricotta mixture into the flower I used a cake frosting bag piping tool (worked wonders that a spoon simply could not).
Our Hunt for the perfect flowers
Me and John went out hunting for the perfect hors d’oeuvre. Who would have thought climbing around in the dirt in a garden would be the funnest ever! Turned out to taste amazing a healthier version of a mozzarella stick!
